‘How to Become a Digital Champion’ Training

Registration is closed for this event
Training by 100% Digital Leeds on how to become a 'Digital Champion' and support people in Leeds to better engage with the digital world.

Nowadays, it is almost impossible to get around the city of Leeds and fully engage with its services and activities without the use of technology. However, lots of the people LASSN work alongside are excluded from the digital world - perhaps because of financial barriers; a lack of confidence using digital services, or a lack of awareness of the digital support available.

100% Digital Leeds aim to reach the digitally excluded in their communities, advocate the benefits of digital, and signpost people to free training and support available across the city. In doing so, they hope to reduce people's isolation, increase independence, develop skills and confidence, and much, much more!

They are running training to support volunteers to become 'Digital Champions' to help them achieve these goals. Digital Champions inspire others, improve people’s confidence and help raise awareness of the online world. It’s not about being a computer expert, it’s about being supportive, encouraging and patient. In this training session you will learn:

  • To consider the impact of digital exclusion from different points of view
  • About some of the challenges newcomers to Leeds face when accessing digital technology
  • About solutions to these challenges and the places you can signpost the person you support to for help

This will be an interactive session, where we encourage you to share your own experiences and ask questions. It will take place on Zoom.
